Overcoming Eh and Taking Time For Yourself
It is very important to take the time for self-reflection and to heal if you don't feel too great. You may be sick or you may just be feeling Eh. Either way, it is perfectly okay and important to take that time to help yourself heal.
In the case where you're sick, take the proper steps to get better and into an optimal state. Take medicine, drink lots of water, get enough sleep, familiarize yourself with what is ailing you, try to eat healthy, perhaps take a sick day if you must, and even try to exercise if you can. Take the time you have to heal.
In the case where you feel a general sense of Eh, which we all feel from time to time, here are my tips to you. Acknowledge that you are not feeling as great as you should be (and if you're reading this, I assume this has been accomplished). If you had a routine you followed when you weren't feeling this way that felt like a good, set routine for you and your body, try to get back into it. This time of year, I believe we all tend to get into the Eh state and that it is also a time for reflection and new beginnings (then again, when isn't it a time for new beginnings?). I prefer to treat the Eh as you would any illness: take this time to (re)start taking care of yourself. The most important part of this – in my opinion – is recentering. By this, I mean taking this time to align yourself with what matters to you. Do this in whatever way you see fit. This may mean getting back into that routine that was mentioned earlier, it may mean meditating every morning, it may mean doing whatever may make you happy, all of which are great.
I personally have encountered the winter Eh this past week. Over the past seven days, I slowly stopped waking up early (which consequently caused me to go to sleep later), meditating in the morning, eating well, exercising, drinking lots of water, and occupying myself with things that I enjoy as well as things that benefit myself and my wellbeing. Giving up these parts of my day made me feel sad and bored. Last night, I acknowledged this fact and that I wanted to recenter, so today, that is exactly what I'm doing. Though I am still in a slightly Eh state (mostly due to the bleak, gray, and wet weather), I am back on the right track.
