Valentine's Day & Self-Love

It's that time of year again when love is in the air. Unfortunately, for some of us, this time of year may also be a time of sadness, jealousy, scorn, mourning, etc. But, really this time should be more than just searching for or showering gifts upon a partner, it should also be about loving yourself. We forget about self-love sometimes when we start focusing on others and their perceptions of us. It's good to just take the time to think about what makes us happy and what is good for us and our wellbeing.

So what will you do this Valentine's Day? Will you spend it like I did, focusing on your significant other and getting upset when things didn't turn out as planned? Or will you do something that makes you happy and puts you in a good and healthy place? (I hope you chose the latter). I know that it can sometimes be hard to start loving yourself, but it's really the little things that matter. Instead of focusing on whether or not someone bought you chocolate or flowers, do that for yourself. I've seen a few people that actually took themselves out on a date today to treat themselves because no one knows how to treat you right better than you do! Maybe take yourself to see that movie you've been wanting to see for weeks, or go to that restaurant that you were hoping to go to at some point. Stop waiting for other people to do things for you and treat yourself! It is always a good idea to take a chance to make yourself happy.
